It’s the time of year to treat the ones you love. For pet owners, we thought you might like to treat your pets too! So we have been busy baking, well our receptionist Karen has. We decided to try out Donal Skeehan’s recipe for homemade dog biscuits and the results are in.
Everyone is very impressed! Karen’s dog, Sam’s dogs, Chris’ dog! We’ll have to make another batch!
This recipe takes 45 minutes to make and makes approx 20 biscuits – depending on the size and shape of cutter you use. Hmm……. dog bone or loveheart???
150g plain flour
150g wholemeal flour
1 large free range egg
150ml chicken stock
100g peanut butter
2 tbsp seeds (we used chai)
Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.
Place the flour in a large bowl and mix well. Add in remaining wet ingredients and seeds and mix until you have a rough dough.
Roll out to approx 2cm in thickness and using a bone or dog shaped cutter, cut out biscuit shapes. Depending on the size of your cutter, you should get 15-20 biscuits.
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cook for 25 mins or until golden brown.
Cool the biscuits on a wire rack before transferring to an airtight container.
As always, please make sure your pet does not eat too many treats at once! If weight is an issue with your pet, don’t use as much peanut butter. Happy Baking!!
